Lecturers 

Zakia Mia obtained BA LL.B from WITS in 1995 after which she worked in the corporate world as a Legal Advisor. She completed articles and was admitted as an attorney in 1998. Zakia is a seasoned lecturer with more than 13 years’ experience lecturing at Vista University, the University of Johannesburg and IPCE.

Dr Esther Gumboh was awarded a Doctorate in Criminal Justice by the University of Cape Town in 2015. A prolific writer and veteran researcher, she has formidable experience in teaching and specialises in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and the Law of Evidence.

Dr Gumboh is a welcome addition to our team and we are certain to learn much from her.

Nabeela Akoodie made the Dean’s list in her final LL.B year at WITS. Thereafter she was admitted as an attorney and has broad experience in personal injury litigation, drafting and research, as well as International Trusts and Compliance. Nabeelah will join our team as lecturer in the Law of Persons and Family Law.

Sabrina Grobbelaar holds a Master of Laws Degree in Mercantile Law from the University of South Africa. She is registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) and is a seasoned Senior Law Lecturer and Educator.

Sabrina has held work positions at numerous tertiary education institutions and has served as a candidate attorney. She served as the Programme Convener position for the faculties of Law and Commerce at Pearson Institute of Higher Education, Bedfordview.

Sabrina is an experienced researcher and research supervisor and is making progress with regards to obtaining a Doctor of Laws Degree in the near future.
